Programme Overview
What is the Energy Connections Programme?
Energy and related industries have been highlighted as an important focus for the future of the East Midlands. Pro Enviro has been selected by the East Midlands Development Agency (emda) to manage Energy Connections programme as a new way to encourage mutually beneficial international collaboration in the energy sector.
The programme aims to bring together companies from around the globe to collaborate with industry and educational bodies in the East Midlands for mutual benefit. This collaboration could, for instance, take the form of companies partnering together to advance innovate energy technology projects; or universities and companies working together to find placements for students, either as part of work experience within undergraduate degrees or placements for post-graduate students.
The programme will involve more than 100 companies in the East Midlands, as well as universities and colleges.
Through this programme the region hopes to strengthen international energy ties, develop energy related business opportunities and partnerships, as well as facilitate the two-way transfer of technologies and knowledge.
The programme and its services centre around 4 focus areas and their associated supply chains, each with its own dedicated events and services:
- Clean fossil fuel technologies (including carbon capture and storage)
- Renewable energy technologies
- Energy technologies in buildings
- Civil nuclear power (including supply chains)
